Five Tips for Healthy Grass
April 18, 2019
Have you been dreaming of having the most luscious lawn on the block? The good news is that it is fully possible for the grass to be greener on your side of the fence. Use these healthy grass tips to achieve that goal.
Healthy Grass Tips
1. Choose the right grass
Not every type of grass is right for your lawn, no matter how much you’d love to have that golf course grass. Set your lawn up for success by choosing a grass that will work in your area and with the shade level in your yard.
2. Aerate and overseed
Once a year in the fall or spring, you should aerate your lawn and overseed. This helps new grass grow and for established roots to breathe.
3. Water well
Long soakings once or twice a week is more valuable than surface-level watering daily.
A high-quality fertilizer will give your lawn the greener appearance you desire. Generally, one with nitrogen is the best choice. Read the directions on the kind you choose to know how often to apply it.
5. Pay Attention to the Soil
A soil pH reading of 7.0, which is neutral, is ideal. Lime applications can improve growing conditions if your soil isn’t the right pH.
